Around Lumbini

Take your pilgrimage a step further to Kapilavastu, an ancient city in Nepal which was the capital of Shakya and believed to have been the place where Siddhartha Gautama spent his childhood and some of his adult life.

Located nearby, visitors will also find the Ramagrama Stupa; which was constructed 2500 years ago and remains the only intact and original stupa containing relics of Lord Buddha.

Some remains of Devdaha, the ancient capital of Koliya Kingdom, the maternal home of Queen Mayadevi (Siddhartha Gautum’s mother) can be found just 7kms from Lumbini.

Shiva’s Ape: Sivapithecus (Shiva's Ape or Ramapithecus) is a genus of extinct apes, the first incomplete specimens of which were found in the neighbourhood of the hotel in the late 19th century. Another find was made in Nepal in 1932 on the bank of Tinau River, dovan v.c. of Palpa; a western part of the country. It has found its new home in the Nature Museum of Kathmandu.
